Looking to
the future
The Ministers
and Office Bearers are acutely aware of the need for the modern Church to
respond to the needs and demands of modern life, for example by providing
more non Sunday times of worship and by recognising that you can feel you
belong to the Church without attending Worship.
We also want
to encourage all our members to take an active part in Church life.
We are keen
to tackle the needs and opportunities of the electronic age.
We recognise
that we have just begun to reach out to WAAM families through Linda’s work.
This is at a very early stage but has already made a huge impact on GKOPC
and WAAM.
There is a
need for an analysis and development of relationships with local Schools.
We need to
consolidate our views on what it means to be a Christian in the 21st
Century and continue to build our Church and Congregation around these
principles
Perhaps an
overriding need of the next ten years will be for all Congregations to
address the issue of climate change. We hope to make this a very important
part of the agenda in the life of our congregation.
Footnote
from an Elder …
We have a
strong yet democratic leadership within the church who listen and we feel
heard. Open to new ideas and innovation but mindful of the wide spectrum of
views and preferences of its fellowship. I believe we have number of areas
of good practice that can be shared with other churches and would welcome
others sharing their areas of good practice with us.
